The 1st ACD Working Group Meeting on Promoting Approaches to Inclusive and Sustainable Development and the Training Course on Microcredit and Sufficiency Economy Development, Bangkok, Thailand

The 1st ACD Working Group Meeting on Promoting Approaches to Inclusive and Sustainable Development was convened on 21 August 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand as an open ended platform for policy consultation to share experience and best practices to generate synergy on various applications of home grown approaches to sustainable development in different contexts to enhance the capacity of ACD Member States to attain sustainable and people-centered development, in particular through Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), Bhutan’s Concept of Gross National Happiness and others such as Korea’s Saemaul Undong policy for rural development. The Working Group will carry out activities and projects that support the implementation of this pillar for the benefit of Asia.
As the activity under the pillar, Thailand also organised an SEP international training programme on “Microcredit and Sufficiency Economy Development” focusing on community empowerment and grassroot economy during 20 August – 2 September 2017 for participants from ACD Member States. The training programme aims to enhance knowledge and share experiences on microcredit, SEP-led development, community empowerment, rural economic development and poverty reduction.
